As Managing Director of Connect there is always a new challenge! Connect is a rapidly expanding business and so every day brings a surprise of a new opportunity or a new experience to be had. I spent 15 years working within mainstream secondary schools holding a variety of management positions. These roles involved working in curriculum development and providing for students with additional needs. I have since gained the Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (QTVI) qualification and still spend time with and work with young people who have visual impairment.
I am very proud of the business and the way that we have made a difference to many lives either directly or indirectly through our partnerships. Recently I have particularly enjoyed being involved in the development of assistive technology to promote independent learning within schools at a national level.
I contribute to UKAAF – UK Association of Accessible Formats – as Public Relations Officer and Accessible Electronic Documents Subject Lead. I have also recently been involved with the Department for Work and Pensions on a national task group.
